A suspended arrangement of biological, cellular forms float in a sunset of amniotic fluid, their tentacular limbs and molded appendages suggesting a latent opportunity to connect and interact with one another. Recalling primordial soups, using computer software X.y.n. (2020) hints at the potential networked systems have to birth emancipatory communities.
Part of Makumbe’s interactive audiovisual project A Motion for X.y.n.ing (2019), this edition is a proposition, the definitions of a new verb: “To X.y.n.” which the artist defines as “build[ing] upon the act of care’s attentiveness towards pain and suffering but also it’s inability to dream up a world with lack of this."
