With the sun high in a flamingo pink sky, an iguana rests for a second beneath the corporate branding of Amazon. In a region of tropical fauna and volcanic mountain ranges, the technology giant has reached out with a new fleet of automated logging machines, drones able to harvest and export natural resources.

Shot within Covelli’s Terra Incognita (2019), a film built within a gaming engine, this edition continues the artist’s investigation into the relationship between Western power and the New World. Ocaso (2020), the Spanish for sunset, refers not only to the daily decline of the solar god, but simultaneously to the decline of the natural world as natural abundance cleared and turned into landscaped resorts.
